Plot
Osgood is bringing food to agents with his snack cart. After Orli had a little argument with him on what she wants to eat, she decides to settle with an apple. That's when Ozzie shows up, apologizes for being late, and complains about the worst luck this morning. He puts his bag on a stool and it falls apart. Seeing that, Osgood knows what's happening, he asks Ozzie if he's seen a black cat, break a mirror, or walked under any ladders this morning, all of which he concurred, and he says he walked under about 100 ladders since his way to work was blocked, so he went through a ladder factory. Osgood says when those things happen to someone in that exact order, they get Bad-Luck-itis. Captain O appears and says they need to cure Ozzie before he destroys headquarters. Although Osgood's recipe book has the recipe for the antidote, he is unwilling to go on a quest to get the ingredients for it (after Orli asks him how long it will take him to get the ingredients), preferring to stay in the kitchen because it's safe and predictable. But Captain O orders him and Orli to search for the ingredients. As they left, Captain O tells Ozzie that they need to get him to a secure location until his Bad-Luck-itis is cured because staying here will only make things worse, she asks Ozzie to touch his desk, and it broke.
Orli and Osgood go to the Misty Glade and the latter says the first ingredient they need is a blade of magical grass. Since there are blades of grass everywhere, Orli spots a wizard and thinks he can help them find it. The wizard introduces himself as Wizard Wayne, Guardian Of The Glade. Orli explains their situation to him and he creates a stone table with some blades of grass, but warns them they have to pick the right one, only one is magical, and if they pick the wrong one, they’ll be turned to stone! Osgood’s cookbook says the magical blade of grass is 10 inches long. So they need a tool to measure length and Osgood pulled out a ruler from his bag. The first blade they measure is 12 inches (too long), then the second blade is 8 inches (too short), so they look for a blade that is between the two sizes and measure it, it is exactly 10 inches. They pick that blade, it glows, and Orli and Osgood did not turn to stone.
Back at HQ, Captain O asks Orwell to take Ozzie to a secure location so his Bad-Luck-itis doesn’t destroy the place. Orwell takes him to the Snuggly Pillow room, but after Ozzie went inside, Orwell hears weird sounds inside and Ozzie comes back out. Ozzie says he leaned against the wall and it collapsed. Orwell asks him if it collapsed into the Rainbow Dragon Room next door, although he feel that is right, Ozzie didn’t see a dragon. Orwell says it’s because the dragon is invisible.
Osgood says the next ingredient is a magic pebble. Wizard Jane, Protector Of The Pebbles, introduces herself. Orli says she reminds her of Wayne and Jane said he’s her brother. Jane creates another stone table with some pebbles and is about to tell them about the unexpected twist, but Orli guesses that only one is magical and picking the wrong one will turn them to stone. While Jane complains that Wayne got that idea from her and that he’s a copycat, Orli pulls out the ruler to begin measuring the pebbles, but Osgood’s book says that the magic pebble weighs the same as his Odd Squad badge, so they need a tool to measure weight, and the ruler won’t work. Jane said they’ll also have to know how much his badge weighs. Although the agents don’t know how much it weighs, Osgood has a balance scale to show which pebble weighs the same as his badge. He put his badge on one plate and one of the pebbles on the other. The pebble is lower than the badge, meaning it’s heavier. Orli replaces that pebble with another one. The two plates are at the same height, meaning they weigh the same. The agents pick that pebble, it glows, and they didn’t turn to stone. As they left, Jane created a gnome when she realizes nobody ever turns to stone.
Meanwhile, Orwell takes Ozzie to other rooms at HQ, but the latter encounters problems in each of them. The Balloon Room resulted in balloons popping, the Beach Room had the tide coming in, and the Custard Pie Room had Ozzie’s face smashed with pie. Captain O tells them about the invisible rainbow dragon on the loose. Ozzie says it was his fault because of his Bad-Luck-itis. Although Captain O says they need to get him out of HQ, Orwell says they already tried that and Ozzie broke the tubes. Captain O feels like Ozzie’s going to destroy them all and called Orli.
Orli says they need one last ingredient for the antidote: Magic water. After asking Osgood where to find it, another wizard talks to them, but when he is about to introduce himself, Orli does it for him to speed things up, she figures that he is the Wizard Of The Water, his brother Wayne and sister Jane are also wizards, but guessed his name wrong. It is Shane, not Dwayne. Osgood says they need a quart of magic water and guesses he won’t just let them have it. Shane create a stone table with a water jug. He is about to tell them the consequence of taking more or less than a quart, but the agents figured that it was turning into stone. Because they are measuring water (a liquid), they need liquid measuring containers. Osgood pulls out two containers from his bag, but realizes that he forgot his one-quart container. Shane cackled when he hears this, preparing to enjoy turning the agents to stone. But Osgood knows that while they might not have the right size container, they can use different sizes to make a quart. Osgood’s watch shows that 1 quart equals 2 pints. Both of the containers can carry a pint each, so both can be filled to make a quart. Osgood pours the water to both containers and Orli signals him when to stop pouring. When he was done, the water glows and they did not turn to stone. While Shane is not supposed to be happy about it, he is proud that they work well together.
Back at HQ, the rainbow dragon is coming from the east corridor (as rainbow smoke can be seen from there). Ozzie tries to zap it with his Freeze-inator, but due to his Bad-Luck-itis, pushing the button breaks the gadget instead. Orli and Osgood return with the antidote and Orli pours it onto him, the liquid turned to sparkles as it went around him. Ozzie wondered if it worked, and Orli hands him her Freeze-inator. Ozzie zaps the dragon and its silhouette can be seen falling down after it got hit by its beam.
While the whole squad rejoiced that Ozzie no longer has Bad-Luck-itis, Captain O also felt tired and wants to sit down at her favorite chair. But when she picks it up, it got destroyed. That’s when Osgood says that he forgot to mention that Bad-Luck-itis is very contagious. Captain O sighs as the episode ends.
Trivia
- Because Osgood is British and Orli is Canadian (due to having previously worked at Niagara Falls)[1], the way they described food is different. In the UK, french fries (US) are described as chips (UK) and potato chips (US) as crisps (UK).
- Although Orli is Canadian, her actress, Asha Soetan, is British.
